Totally Scrooged

"Totally Scrooged" is the name of the first level of the PS1 game Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko. Being a parody of Christmas specials, this stage is full of lots of little references to the holiday season ranging from cracks at Christmas movies to a snowboarding segment. Overall, this is one of the easiest stages in the game...and rightfully so; it's the first! This stage however does happen to be one of the rare stages with a mini-boss; Evil Santa. Evil Santa stood across from Gex, a safe distance from his dangerous tail whips. Unfortunately for him, Gex was smart enough to tail whip Evil Santa's presents back at him, ending his reign of holiday horror.

Layout
Totally Scrooged is a pretty straight forward stage...on the exterior. The layout of the stage resembles Final Destination in structure, a large flat stage that actually manages to be slightly larger than FD in length. Some things to note however...you're actually battling on top of a frozen lake! This means your traction is terrible; you'll not only slide a lot when you stop running...but your trip rate is increased by 1/4th! On the far right and left side of the stage, there are two patches of snow one Battlefield platform wide. These act as normal solid ground where you won't slip and slide; this area is a great place to be in...but you're also closer to the edge making you an easier KO target! There's also a large tree to the right side of the stage, a giant snowman who looks like Evil Santa in the background and assorted holiday presents and candy canes. If you watch carefully, you may also see some assorted cameos from various Gex characters including Alfred, Cuz, Rex and, of course, Gex himself.

Hazards
Hazard #1:
Evil Santa |
Uh oh...looks like Santa's really let himself go! And really let himself get evil too. Evil Santa leaps to the top of the giant Snowsanta in the background and pulls out his sack of deadly toys! He'll aim it at a random character currently brawling and exclaim, "You've been very naughty this year!" or "You're on my list...and not the good one!" before firing a present at the foe that will fly at the speed of one of Snake's grenades from his Final Smash! While presents are normally nice and awesome, these presents are deadly and will deal 16% with medium-high knockback, exploding into a spray of wrapping paper and pain if they connect! Evil Santa will continue this barrage for up to ten shots...unless you knock him off his high horse...er...snowman. If you managed to strike a present in midair, it will fly back and hit Evil Santa who will wobble uneasily. Hitting Evil Santa with two reflected presents will knock him off the giant snowman, keeping him from showing his evil face for a minute and a half.

Hazard #2:
Skating Elves |
Annoying little elves that skate about the pond you're on, these elves act much like the karts on Mario Circuit. Constantly skating around the frozen pond (and around the giant snowman), these elves are a bit more predictable/slower than the karts and other similar hazards as you can physically see them at all times! Getting hit by an elf will deal 10% and moderate upward knockback...more of an annoyance than an actual damaging hazard. There are a maximum of ten elves skating at the same time and they're actually attackable too! If you attack an elf, they'll slide across the ice on their rears, grumbling in grouchy voices before getting back up and starting to skate again. Knocking an elf down twice will finish it off for good...but after 25 seconds, a new elf will lace up their skates and jump onto the frozen lake!

Hazard #3:
Frozen Pond |
Do remember that you're fighting on a frozen pond...it's cold outside but it's not THAT cold. If you strike the ice below you with downward attacks, the ice will actually break where you were attacking! This acts very similarly to the ground on Skyworld, having the same stamina even! If you break the ice, you, your opponents and any elves skating about have a chance to fall into the freezing water below! If you fall into the icy water, you'll take 3% per half second you're in it and start to drown at double the normal drowning rate. So...get out of there as fast as possible! Of course, this is easier said than done if your opponent say...keeps dair you under the surface? After 10 seconds, the patch of ice that was broken will solidify again, dealing slight upward knockback to anyone below the surface/in the water! The pond area of this stage is divided into five breakable pieces.

Hazard #4:
Tree |
Original name indeed. The tree on the far right side of the stage is normally just something you can harmlessly walk through; it is just a tree after all. But...if someone hits the tree, all of the snow on it will fall off and onto foes below! If the snow falls on you, you'll be pitfalled like DK's Side Special! A greet counter for people who may be trying to play it safe off to the right side. This deals no damage or anything and, after 9 seconds, the snow on the tree will be replaced and can be shaken off again.
