Dr. Mario's Virus Bottle
Updated - February 22, 2010

All Dr. Mario games feature a large grid as the main game interface. This grid (in the shape of a large pill bottle) starts out partially filled with viruses of three color: red, yellow, and blue who's names are Chill (Blue) Fever (Red) and Weird (Yellow). The main objective of the Dr. Mario game is to clear the grid of the viruses. This objective can be fulfilled with the help of multi-colored pills called Megavitamins. These pills are two-blocks wide and come in the same color as the viruses. Usually, they are sectioned off into two random colors, but occasionally contain only one random color. These pills are guided down the grid by the Player's D-Pad. They can be rotated by the "A" Button. To eliminate a virus, four blocks of a color (pill or virus) must be piled up. The stack will then disappear. If a virus was contained in the stack, the virus will be eliminated as well. If the stacks of pills or viruses reach the top of the grid, the player receives a Game Over.

Layout
The stage’s layout is pretty simple. You start the fight at the bottom of Dr. Mario’s virus bottle, and pills are thrown down, as well as pills that contain viruses. As the pills stack, platforms are created so that you can fight. When colors match, the pills will disappear, and if a virus is caught in that path, it’ll be destroyed as well. The sides of the virus bottle are sturdy, but they’ll break, creating a hole for players to be KO’d through. You can escape the bottle and fight on the outside, but there’s not too much ground to fight on up there. You can also use the high score counter on the left as a large platform. Also, different cameos act as the doctors who toss Megavitamins down to the stage if Dr. Mario is fighting. Once the bottle is filled, all of the viruses and pills will vanish and the tossing of pills and viruses begins again.
Hazards
Hazard #1: Viruses There are three types of viruses on the stage, and they all do different things. One thing with all viruses is that they disappear when you touch them. Red Viruses, or Fevers, will cause stat reductions to Offense and Speed. Blue Viruses, or Chills, will cause the player to shiver for a short time and be vulnerable to attacks. If the foe that touched the Chill had upwards of 50% damage, they’ll be frozen instead. Yellow Viruses, or Wierds, will cause controls to be messed up for a short amount of time.
Hazard #2: Pills The pills tossed by the doctors act mostly as platforms, but if colors line up, they’ll disappear, causing you to take about 10% and massive knockback. Also, if those colors match up with the right colored virus, the virus will be destroyed.
