Princess Peach's Castle (also known as Mushroom Castle) is the castle in which Princess Peach and many Toads, including Toad and Toadsworth, live. The rooms inside the castle vary from game to game, as does the castle's location. It is recognized by a tall tower standing in the center of the castle and is supported by four towers along the outside walls (in most games).

Layout

The stage is a bit different from its Super Smash Bros. Melee appearance. The stage is much less realistic looking than it was in Melee, and looks more bright and cheery. The only new thing about the stage is the little tower structures at the end of each side of the stage. The flagpoles on them are in the background, so there is no need to worry. However, this is only the main fighting area. The stage goes though a few transformations as the battle progresses. Sometimes, the stage will suddenly disappear and a purple and yellow swirl will cover the stage, sort of like when the Castle Siege stage transitions from level to level. The only difference is that this is a big swirl, and not a grey blur. Once five seconds are up, you arrive in the past. The background is, instead of bright and happy, destroyed and on fire. The sky is dark, with purple clouds, and Shroobs in Shroob UFOs are flying in the background. They sometimes will come in to attack or crash on the ground. Also, the stained glass showing Princess Peach is smashed and a poster that says “All hail Princess Shroob!” with a picture of the Princess herself smiling evilly and numerous Shroobs in the background of the poster. This poster blows around in the wind, and may blow off from time to time, causing a Shroob to put up another poster. If you stand right above where the Shroob climbs, he’ll fire his laser gun at you. After a while of being here, the swirl appears again, and takes you back to the normal Princess Peach’s Castle. The other transformation on the stage is quite reminiscent of Paper Mario and Super Mario Galaxy. A fierce rumbling occurs, and the ground around the stage begins to crack. Bowser’s Castle, as it was seen in Paper Mario, appears from the ground and raises the stage higher and higher. Two extra platforms are added to the bottom of the castle, and the stage’s size is increased. Touching the spiked balls on the bottom will deal damage and heavy knockback, so be careful. As the stage goes higher and higher, gravity is lower and lower, until you are in outer space, and gravity is almost the same as that of the Good Egg Galaxy stage. The spiked balls remain still now, but the chains can be attacked to make them spin. After a while, a meteor hits the stage, and it falls back down at a fast rate, and everyone is somehow dragged along, despite the lack of gravity. The stage randomly picks both events, but most of the time is spent on the main stage.

Hazards
Hazard #1:
Shroobs |
In the past, Shroob UFOs will sometimes fly onto the stage, and their laser cannons will come out of the top or bottom of their small craft and then fire a small spinning pink ball of energy that dissipates on contact with the ground. Also, if the Shroob UFO is struck, it’ll begin trailing smoke as it crashes, creating an explosion upon contact with the ground. Sometimes, the Shroob UFOs will not work anyway, and crash without being provoked. Also, the Shroobs that climb up the ladder to replace the poster are armed. If you are standing above them while they are on the ladder, they’ll pull out a laser gun and fire the same kind of projectile that the Shroob UFOs fire.

Hazard #2:
Spiked Ball |
On the sky part of the stage, the spiked balls can damage any player unlucky enough to touch them. The damage is about 20%, and the knockback is quite damaging. Fortunately, they only are on the bottom of the stage. They cause 5% damage and less knockback while they are weightless in space. The chains can be attacked to influence where the chains float.
Hazard #3:
Banzai Bills |
Every once and a while, a large, angry Banzai Bill will appear, slowly flying into the stage. Once it hits, it begins to drill into the castle. It sits for about a second before it flashes again for about two seconds before exploding very similarly to the Smart Bombs from Brawl, except it deals an OHKO. Touching the Banzai Bill deals 3%. These are regular obstacles on the stage, and appear everyhere. In the past, the Banzai Bill will have a Shroob-like theme. In space, the Banzai Bills are slower, and they spin.
Hazard #4:
Rainbow Switches |
Red, Green, and Blue Switches appear on the stage. When you hit them, an item will appear onstage, usually a Wing Box, Metal Box, or an Invisible Box. Also, a few platforms spawn on the stage when the switches are hit, and these platforms appear in the same positions that they appeared in the original stage.
