Layout

The background has cheering crowds of people, mostly human characters who’ve only made appearances in Mario sports titles. Toadsworth sits on the tall referee’s chair and watches the fight. The stage itself is completely flat, except for the net that is about one Kirby tall that sits right in the middle of the stage. It’s bouncy, so don’t mess with it too much. The stage is just a little bit larger than Final Destination. If someone gets KO’d off a side border, Toadsworth will hold out a sign saying a score, as if that player got a point in tennis. If a certain player gets enough points, they’ll get a power-up item effect on them, such as gaining a Hammer Suit.

Hazards
Hazard #1:
Bowser Stage |
When a flash of fire turns the stage into a freshly-burnt court and turns the audience completely into Dry Bones, a Mecha Bowser hovers down to the stage and lets out a few item boxes that contain only Super Mario items. The net also burns away, making the stage almost completely bare. Toadsworth no longer counts points as well, as he’s been turned into a Dry Bones. After a while, Mecha Bowser leaves, and the stage stays like this until a star hits the stage, and a flash of golden light occurs. All of the stage returns to normal.

Hazard #2:
Ring Game |
When a series of orange and white rings appear on stage, throw things through them, and you’ll rack up points. Get enough points, and you’ll get a power-up item effect bestowed upon you by Toadsworth.
Hazard #3:
Piranha Challenge |
A trio of Piranha Plants appears on stage and spit tennis balls at the players. Get hit, and you’ll suffer 3% damage. If you can reflect the balls back and kill all three Piranha Plants, they’ll come back up and spit tennis balls at your enemies for five seconds.
