The Freezeflame Galaxy is a galaxy in the game Super Mario Galaxy. It features the Fire Flower and the Ice Flower. It has a water and ice area, and a fire and lava area. This is also where Baron Brrr resides. The galaxy appears to be split into three large planets. One is made up of water and ice, the second of fire and lava, and the third one is a combination of both with a rocklike core. There are also two minor planetoids, one that decides which planet Mario goes to, and one that features paths of lava and paths of ice and is also where Cosmic Mario is raced, but without the lava.

Layout

The stage starts out on a ring made of ice that floats off of the Freeze part of the Freezeflame Galaxy. The platform is much like a slippery Final Destination that has a hole in the middle. Crystal on the stage can contain items, so smash them if you get the chance. Next, the ice ring falls onto the Freeze side of the Freezeflame Galaxy, and the screen begins to scroll as you must climb the Summit part of the Freeze side. Snowmen can block your way, but you can destroy them for items, and they sometimes carry items on their heads. Strange Thwomp-like creatures reside in the walls and will attempt to push you around if you walk near them. At the top of the summit, the platform is about twice as wide as Dream Land’s main platform, and in the background, Baron Brrr floats around, occasionally shooting ice chunks at the fighters. After a while, a blue light envelops everyone and they all get pulled toward the Flame side of the Galaxy. The area where you fight is flat, except for a small pole in the middle of the stage. Red Urchins and Burn Bits will accost you here, and crates litter the stage, which can be broken for items or used as platforms. For the most part, the stage is normal. But then, a burst of hot steam blows players all the way around the Flame planet and the land in a strange area with walls on both sides. A platform the size of Dream Land’s main platforms sits in the middle of the stage, and on the right side of this platform is a pool of freezing water, and to the left is a pool of lava. Hanging over both pools is a pass-through platform. The freezing water’s platform is made of ice, so be careful not slip into the chilly water. After a while, the freezing water becomes solid, and an arrow points to it, signaling for you to step on it. It rises into the air, and then becomes a large ring of ice in space. This repeats the cycle over again.

Hazards
Hazard #1:
Ice Ring Planet Hazards |
Sometimes crystals of ice that contain items can rise from the ice ring. Attack these crystals, and they smash, allowing you to obtain the items inside.
Hazard #2:
Summit Hazards |
The snowmen that dot the stage will often carry items on their heads and also give items when smashed. A single attack is all that it takes to topple a snowman. The strange chubby looking Thwomps that live in the walls also cause problems, as they’ll deal about 5% damage, but large knockback with each push. Baron Brrr resides at the top, and he likes to fire ice chunks from his crown at the fighters, and each chunk deals 7% damage.
Hazard #3:
Flame Side Hazards |
The crates on the stage can be pushed around and used as platforms, but they also contain items, and must be smashed in order to obtain these items. Red Urchins will sometimes jump out of the lava and roll around the stage. They can only be taken out by a non-fire projectile or water attack. Touching a Red Urchin will deal 6% damage. Burn Bits can also rise from the lava to attack. Again, just like the Red Urchins, these can only be damaged by water or a non-fire projectile. The first hit stuns them, and then the second will smash them. Any attack will do the second time.

Hazard #4:
Fire and Ice Lake Hazards |
Obviously, touching the lava or the freezing water will damage you. The freezing water will shoot you into the air and freeze you, but the lava just shoots you into the air and deals damage. This makes the freezing water more dangerous. Also, the platform above the icy water is frozen, making it slippery.
