Death Mountain Crater is a location from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. As its name implies, it is the inside, rocky, volcanic area of Death Mountain. Though the temperatures are sweltering and lava flows through it, Link still manages to explore the crater in search of the Sage of Fire, Darunia. While in the crater, and later the Fire Temple, Link must equip the Goron Tunic to survive in the overwhelming heat. Aside from the Fire Temple, a Great Fairy Fountain is also located in Death Mountain Crater. If Link visits her, the Great Fairy extends his Magic Meter, thus enabling him to cast twice as many spells before using up his magic power.

Layout
The stage is mostly just the size of Final Destination, but there is a fall-through platform that extends in a slanted direction from the very edge of the main platform, to the right. Also, two large rocks sit on both sides of the main platform, creating a sort of wall, yet you can easily jump over it or knock someone over it. There is a small platform on the surface of the lava at the bottom of the screen, as a sort of second chance, if you can land on it. Touching the lava, unlike the Brinstar or Norfair stages from Brawl, gives you an instant KO. In the background, you can see the path leading down to the Fire Temple, and the door that leads to the Fire Temple. Also, a large boulder sits near a wall, showing where a Great Fairy fountain is. Also, the stage is so hot, that you can see heat waves in certain places.

Hazards
Hazard #1:
Geysers |
There are small bumps on the main platform, and these bumps are where really hot steam comes out. Every once and a while, a small bit of steam will leak from the hole, and two seconds later, a larger burst will come out, causing high knockback but only 3% damage.
