Mother & Child Isles
Updated - October 10, 2009

In The Wind Waker, the Mother & Child Isles are a large island (the Mother) and small island (the child), situated next to each other. The Mother island is home to the Fairy Queen, who grants Link the Fire Arrows and Ice Arrows. However, it is surrounded with a high rock wall. The only way to access it is using the the Ballad of Gales, learned from Cyclos, to warp in.

On the Child island, which can be accessed by boat, Link meets a Goron Merchant. It is also home to a Blue Chu Chu. While Mother & Child Isles only appears in The Wind Waker, in Twilight Princess, within Zora's Domain, there is a similar structure known as the Mother-and-Child Rocks.

Layout
The fight starts off on the relatively small Child Isle, where a singular palm tree stands, surrounded by a large patch of grass. To the right of the isle, there is a small raft that serves as an extra platform, it is a bit wobbly though! The grass area, or the main platform, is sort of a knoll, which means that it is curved, with the highest part of the actual isle being its very tip. While the extended platform the palm tree stands on is still there, it is a background object, just as the palm tree's trunk is.

Eventually, a completely harmless cyclone will come by and whisk you off to the inside of the Mother Isle. The Mother Isle is a bit more complex than the Child Isle because of the pool of water with the rock in the middle. The rock is sliced in half and acts as a 'pedestal' of sorts. A water current pushes out from the inside of the rock, meaning that there most be some hollow passageway in there that connects the rock to the small pond that surrounds it. To the sides of the pond, there are little areas of wet soil you can walk on too. Keep in mind that just because it's a pond doesn't mean it's very steep! You will just walk over the water all the time. Think Fountain of Dreams from Super Smash Bros. Melee.

After a while, the same cyclone will appear from the middle of Mother Isle and take you back to Child Isle.
Hazards
Hazard #1: Bokoblin Every once in a while a single Bokoblin will be sleeping in a pot on the raft to the side of the Child Isle. If you walk onto the raft, it will jump out and attack you, dealing 7% - 10% damage per hit. You can kill it with one - two strong attacks, or three - ten weaker ones. It has 15HP in all. When it is finally killed, you can use its cleaver as a weapon.
Hazard #2: Goron Merchant When there isn't a Bokoblin in a pot, or for that matter just a pot, on the raft, there will be the Goron Merchant. He isn't exactly a hazard, as he is just a guy who walks around. When you near him, he will lift up its hat and make a small grunt, but aside from that he does pretty much nothing!
Hazard #3: Day-Night System Every two cycles through Mother Isle and Child Isle, the time will change from day to night.
Hazard #4: Blue Chu Chu During the nighttime hours (actually, minutes), the Blue Chu Chu will appear on Child Isle. It can only be destroyed with an indirect attack, seeing as it is covered in sparks! Each time it touches someone, it will deal 5% damage with its sparks and paralyze them for .5 - 1 second.
