Viper Manor - Bluffs
Updated - May 03, 2010

The Viper Manor Bluffs are located on the back of the cliff upon which the Viper Manor (home of the Acacia Dragoons) resides in El Nido. These dangerous cliffs can be climbed by hand, though there are plenty of hazards to keep potential invaders occupied. When Serge first attempted to climb the bluffs with Guile in Another World, the Acacia Dragoons assaulted the duo with rocks. Monsters and jets of water also hindered the progress of the two. Fierce birds waited at the summit of the cliff, after Serge and company defeated the Dragoons. The top balcony of the Manor looks out over the bluffs.

General Information
Origin: Chrono Cross Location: El Nido
Release Date: November 18, 1999 Home Stage of: Guile
Layout
The stage is a moving stage, which ascends the Bluffs along the same path which Serge would have taken in Chrono Cross. As one would expect, the stage begins at the bottom of the rock face, where water and a few patches of land lie. This land is rather green and mossy. There are a couple of “platforms” that jut out from the rockface, as well as a “ladder” (if it could be called that) along the wall which players can use to climb up, if jumping is not their style. After pausing at this location for about 30 seconds, the stage slowly scrolls upward to the midsection of the bluffs.
The Midsection is largely the same as the bottom in terms of design; however the layout is obviously much different. There are holes which water can randomly jet out of in this section, and enemies are scattered around as well [Hazards 2 and 1 respectively]. There are multiple platforms, as well as rockface ladders that can be used to climb as the stage scrolls along. Eventually, the stage will move on to the third and final section of the Bluffs.
The Summit of the Bluffs is similar to the Midsection, in the sense that it is more weaving paths and platforms. However, the key difference here is the portion of the Manor that can be used as a fighting zone. There are a few Dragoons here that will have been throwing rocks at you for the majority of the match, but these will be destroyed by the player quite quickly, unless they choose to ignore the soldiers. The stage will once again pause for approximately thirty seconds, so that players can have a breather and fight along the Manor. The stage will then descend the Bluffs, and will repeat once the players reach the bottom area.
Hazards
Hazard #1: Enemies Along the Bluffs, there are various enemies from Chrono Cross that will make their appearance. In the Midsection, there are Loch Nests, which are motionless monsters that simply attack. They are nests with yellow eyes creeping from the shadows, mounted atop a forked stick. Loch Nests have 21% health. Gobledygooks are winged monsters that fly back and forth across multiple areas of the stage, and have 23% health. Finally, the Dragoons at the top of the Bluffs have 35% health, and attack with swords, or by pushing rocks at the players [see Hazard 3].
Hazard #2: Water Jets There are several holes along the rockface in which water will fire out of. This water deals no damage, but gives a similar effect to Mario’s F.L.U.D.D. attack in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, or Kyogre’s attack in the same game. This may lead the player into a KO, or it may just knock them off balance during a combo. Plan your strategies around the timing of the jets!
Hazard #3: Falling Rocks All through the stage, the Dragoons at the top of the Bluffs will be pushing rocks off of the side of the Manor down the rockface. These rocks will bounce off of the platforms, and deal about 15% damage to those hit. The effect is similar to Kirby’s Down Special in Brawl.
