Groznyj Grad
Updated - May 20, 2010

Groznyj Grad was created through Volgin's use of the Philosopher's Legacy. The Hind A prototypes as well as the flying platforms were developed at this location. The center of the stronghold contained a weapons lab at the center. To the northeast was a provisions storehouse containing supplies for the base and its personnel. To the southeast is a prison and torture chamber that dissident personnel and intruders were placed in. To the northwest was an armory containing weapons of Soviet origin. Also, Groznyj Grad contained at least two underground vaults, one containing the Philosophers Legacy, and the other containing weapons of Western origin used for research purposes. Trucks also traversed in and out of the base, presumably to transport supplies. The base also contained a library, which was frequently visited by GRU Major Ivan Raidenovitch Raikov. It also contained a runway for the liftoff of several aircraft, and was originally going to be used as the Shagohod's first test. Also, for unknown reasons, Groznyj Grad's exterior sounds an air raid/nuclear strike siren indefinitely.

General Information
Origin: Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Location: Tselinoyarsk
Release Date: November 17, 2004 Home Stage of: Solid Snake
Layout
Players fight in front of a large warehouse building, which is actually a weapons lab, much similar to Shadow Moses in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, except the edges of the stage are open and aren't blocked by destructible towers. The stage's size is also much wider, but not any taller. A minor dust storm can disrupt players' view a tiny bit as well, but not by very much. The ground is made up of a musty old dirt and gravel road. Also, similar to Shadow Moses, the weapons lab has a second story balcony which serves as a thin platform above the main one.
Hazards
Hazard #1: Shagohod A nuclear-armed Shagohod vehicle will make its appearance known on this stage about once every 60 seconds on default hazard settings, driving onto the stage from either the right or left side and act much like Fox's Landmaster Final Smash in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, in the way that players can fight on top of its exterior, but they cannot damage it. After it parks itself midway between the edge of the stage and the center, it'll reveal a nuclear missile from a launching platform on its back before firing it and sending it off the top of the screen. The missile is impenetrable to attacks and won't explode until it makes its return trip. About 30 seconds later, after the Shagohod has receded off the stage by going in reverse, the ballistic missile will be dropped onto the stage in a random area, causing a large explosion which will act very similar to a Smart Bomb as seen in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, except twice the size in diameter and twice as affective in damage and knockback. The cycle will repeat itself about once every 3 minutes.
