A Native Pokemon of Sinnoh, both Shellos and their evolution Gastrodon have differing appearances depending on whether they were born east or west of Mt. Coronet. Their bodies are similar to that of slugs in appearance and they have been shown to ahve the ability to stretch out their necks. It was said in an interview in the Nintendo Power magazine that Shellos and its evolution were originally designed to be in the Generation III games, Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, but were left out. There is even coding left in the games for a beta version of their backsprites.

Attack Description
When summoned a Shellos of either the West Sea or East Sea variant will appear. The Shellos will then spit out mud that will cover up an area on the field roughly the amount of the area that Dedede takes up when he is lying on his side. The East Sea variant of Shellos will spit the mud out on the right side of the stage will the West Sea variant of Shellos will spit the mud out on the left side of the stage. This mud is completely non-damaging including if you were to come into contact with it when it gets shot out. This mud will slow down the movement of players who walk through it to a considerable degree and if one tries to jump to get it out of it the height of their jump is lessened by half. The patch of mud will disappear from the stage after being there for 15 seconds.
