The Winged Cloud is an item from the Yoshi series that flies about the stage. When Yoshi throws a Yoshi Egg at them, they pop open and reveal a hidden item. They can release Flowers, Stars, 1-Up Mushrooms and even activate hidden switches used to create paths or platforms.

In Smash, the Winged Cloud pops out of nowhere in the air and begins to fly about the stage. Where the Winged Cloud will fly is completely random, following the same rules as the Smash Ball. If hit by any projectile attack, any at all, it will pop open and drop a random item down onto the stage. Physical attacks have no effect on the Winged Cloud and will merely pass through it. After 30 seconds of not being opened, the Winged Cloud will fly off the stage.
