The firebar was a tool made by Bowser as ultimate resourse to stop Mario when he enters in his castle and it was later replaced by other hazards in the series, just to return more later and now appearing even in Mario's spin offs. It's formed by a series of fireballs and it spins in hour or antihour sense at a costant rate around one of it's edges, burning it's targets as they touch it.
Works:
Super Mario Bros. (Nintendo)
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (Super Nintendo)
Super Mario Galaxy (Nintendo Wii)

How It's Used
|
When appearing in the fight ground it looks just like an harmless 2D reddish panel with pixel rivets on the corners. Once thrown thought, the flame in the middle turns on and the spinning bar starts extending, one fireball every half second, till it reaches the maximun extension it reached in Super Mario Bros. Then it retracts, one fireball every half second, till it turns off and the panel disappears. Obviously it passes through the character that threw it without hurting. If throw on a surface it activates after touching the ground. If thrown on the air it stops in midair after a second and activates.
When active it emits the 8-bit melody you can hear as BGM in the castle stages os Super Mario Bros.
