Barrel Cannon
Updated - March 22, 2010

The Barrel Cannon (also known as a Barrel Kannon or Blast Barrel) is an item found in the Donkey Kong series. They appear in all three Donkey Kong Country games. They also can be found by Donkey Kong in Donkey Kong 64. In these games, a Kong would go into the barrel, and it would do one of two things: it would either automatically blast the Kong to where it needed to go, or it would spin around and the Kong would have to press a button at the right time to blast to their destination. They appear in the game Donkey Kong Barrel Blast, along with new varieties of red and gold. In DK Jungle Climber, they will be easier to aim.

How It's Used
When a Barrel Cannon appears, it'll simply sit at the site it appeared at, motionless. A player can then pick it up and carry it around until they throw it. Unlike in Super Smash Bros. Melee, the Barrel Cannon will act as the Bumper did in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and travel a determined distance through midair before coming to a stop. If it hits a wall, ceiling, floor, or platform, it'll bounce off of it before coming to a stop. After it has been thrown, the Barrel Cannon cannot be picked up again, but if thrown towards an opponent, the opponent can catch it. The Barrel Cannon will then begin spinning once it stops in midair. If a player comes into contact with it, they'll enter the Barrel Cannon and be shot out of it once they hit either the attack button or special button.
