Mario is a fictional character created by game designer Shigeru Miyamoto. Serving as Nintendo's mascot, Mario has appeared in over 200 video games since his creation. Though originally only appearing in platform games, starting with Donkey Kong, currently Mario appears in many genres of games, such as racing, puzzle, role-playing, fighting, and sports games, and others. Mario is depicted as a short, pudgy, Italian-American plumber who lives in the Mushroom Kingdom, having originated from New York. He is best known for repeatedly stopping the plans of Bowser to kidnap Princess Peach and subjugate the Mushroom Kingdom. He also has other enemies and rivals, including Donkey Kong and Wario.
As Nintendo's mascot, Mario is one of the most famous characters in video game history, and his image has become synonymous with video games. Mario games, as a whole, have sold more than 201 million units, making the Mario series the best-selling video game series of all time. Outside the platform games he is traditionally associated with, Mario has appeared in video games in other genres, including the Mario Kart racing series, Nintendo's arcade sports games (such as the Mario Tennis and Mario Golf series), and Nintendo's series of Mario role-playing games. Outside the original games, television shows, film, and comics, he spawned a line of licensed merchandise.

Attack Details
Standard Special:
Fireball (2%-12%) |
Mario throws a red fireball that will bounce along the ground and ricochet off of obstacles and barriers, as well as opponent's shields. The fireball will burn out after traveling a certain distance. If it hits an opponent, they'll recieve 2%-6% damage, but now Mario can charge the attack up and shoot large fireballs at opponents, which may cause up to 12% damage. |
Side Special:
Tanooki Tail (1%-5%) |
Mario spins in place as a Tanooki's tail appears on his behind, sending out a wave of wind that can not only turn his opponents around, but also blow them but a tad. This wind can also affect items on the ground, and reflect projectiles. Getting hit by his tail will cause 1%-5% damage, but getting hit by the wind does not cause any damage at all. |
Up Special:
Star Spin (1%-15%) |
Mario spins around quickly as Luma appears from under his hat and spins around him as well. Mario gains moderate recovery distance with this attack, however, if Mario hits an opponent with this attack he'll continue to spin and combo the opponent before sending them flying and gaining more distance than he normally would. |
Down Special:
F.L.U.D.D. (0%-14%) |
Mario equips himself with F.L.U.D.D. and can use its Spray Nozzle to squirt water at his opponents to push them away from him. This attack doesn't cause any damage, but can still KO opponents if used on opponents attempting to return to the stage. Fully charging the attack will cause the F.L.U.D.D. to switch to the Turbo Nozzle and cause Mario to burst forward in a water-powered dash, hitting opponents for 5%-14% damage. |
Final Smash
Fire Mario (?%) |
Mario powers up using a Fire Flower and transforms into Fire Mario. Complete with a new fire-powered moveset, Fire Mario can perform all the attacks that normal Mario can, but with the added bonus of fire which causes more damage. By powering up his Standard Special attack, Mario can unleash his Mario Finale attack from Super Smash Bros. Brawl, which will burn its way across the stage and incinerate any opponents in the way. The Final Smash transformation will end after either 10 seconds are up, or if Mario performs his Mario Finale attack. |
