Marcus Fenix was a sergeant in the COG Armed Forces. A legendary war hero, Marcus served with distinction in the Pendulum Wars which earned him the Embry Star, COG's highest military award, for his actions during the Battle of Aspho Fields. Like the rest of humankind, he saw everything change on Emergence Day. Marcus bravely fought the Locust for ten years, then, during an intense battle, he abandoned his post to rescue his father, Professor Adam Fenix, but could not reach him in time. Marcus was tried for dereliction of duty and sentenced to 40 years in Jacinto Maximum Security Prison. Incarcerated for four years before being released by his longtime friend, Dominic Santiago. Marcus was later promoted to replace Minh Young Kim after his death. Along with the rest of Delta Squad, he successfully detonated the Lightmass Bomb and destroyed much of the Locust Hollow. With his reputation restored, Marcus finishing the war against the Locust, now works with the military to rebuild civilization. It's presumed that he holds romantic feelings for Anya Stroud.

Scorcher

Marcus takes out his Scorcher, which is a portable flamethrower. He'll spray fire forward using it, like Bowser's Fire Breath, which will shorten as it runs low on its dry chemical fuel supply. It will cause 1%-5% every second the victim is entrapped in its flames. |

Chainsaw Bayonet
(3%-14%) |
Marcus will equip a chainsaw attached to a lancer assault rifle and lunge forward with it exposed in front of him. The chainsaw will rip through opponents (no blood is ever visible) and finish with a vertical slice, sending opponents skyward at the end of the attack. This move can cause anywhere from 3%-14% damage. |

Marcus fires a shot from his Mortar weapon that will project him upwards a short distance. Anyone under Marcus when he fires this weapon will take 7%-15% damage and medium knockback. |

Bolo Grenade

Marcus will take out a frag grenade and start swinging it by its chain. Upon pressing the throw button, he'll toss it forward. It'll explode after 5 seconds, whether Marcus has thrown it or not. These grenades can cause 5%-12% damage. |

Final Smash

One Shot
(35%-50%) |
Marcus brings out the heavy guns with this attack, the One Shot. Fenix fires a single round which will travel horizontally across the entire stage and strike anyone in its path. The target(s) will be projected away from the point of impact as a red mist sprays from their position. This attack causes 35%-50% damage to all targets. |
