Fight Details
Manhandla is impervious to all physical attacks, so the players must damage him with a projectile attack. This is simple for his battle in “The Fall of Termina” storyline, as Mario, Link, and Luigi all have projectile attacks. However, in the Boss Battles mode, the player must deflect a projectile from Koume and Kotake (who are in the background) at Manhandla in order to defeat one of its four heads. Manhandla’s heads each have a total of 15% health, and regenerate after 50% damage has been dealt to its body. Manhandla’s body has 200% health in total. Once all four head’s are destroyed, its body becomes vulnerable to physical attacks, but only for 50% damage, and Manhandla then begins to move very quickly.
Attacks
Attack #1: Wandering (Easy-Intense) The main attack that Manhandla will use is its massive size. The great beast will wander back and forth across the main platform of the basement of Koume and Kotake’s Potions Shop, attempting to knock the player’s character into the poisoned water surrounding the main stage. If Manhandla rams into a character, they are sent flying with 7% damage, and medium knockback, likely sending them into the poisoned water.
Attack #2: Fireballs (Easy-Intense) After Manhandla makes its way to either edge of the stage, it will spit a fireball from all of its four heads at the player. These fireballs deal a small amount of fire-based damage (about 5%), as well as a small amount of knockback.
Attack #3: Dust Twister (Hard-Intense) On the Hard difficulty and higher, Manhandla may begin to spin rapidly around on the spot for about 3 seconds while it kicks up dust and loose stone tiles. After spinning for three seconds, the Manhandla will spin rapidly back and forth across the stage. If a stone tile comes in contact with the player, they will be knocked backwards with 10% damage, while the Manhandla's twister acts similarly to the twister on the Hyrule Castle stage from Super Smash Bros. 64.
