Updated - August 31, 2010

Three nasty viruses that plague the Mushroom Kingdom. These three viruses have had various outbreaks from time to time and with each occurrence Dr. Mario manages to defeat them with a (overly)healthy dose of Mgavitamins. The Red Virus represents Fever, the Blue Virus represents Chill, and the Yellow Virus represents Weird.

    Works:
Dr. Mario 64 (Nintendo 64)
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (Game Boy Advance)
Dr. Mario & Germ Buster (WiiWare)

General Information
Assistance Type: Physical / Indirect Origin: Dr. Mario
Chance of Appearance: Common Date of Origin: July 27, 1990
Assistance Description
The three viruses will appear out of the Assist Trophy together and depending on the number of opponents will either each split apart to go after each one, go in groups of 2 and 1 after the opponents or if there is only one opponent left they will all three go after that one. If a virus catches up with someone they will punch them for 3%-5% damage and depending on what kind of virus they are they will also inflict on them a status effect. The Red Virus will cause a burn status effect to be placed on the opponent and they will constantly and consistently take fire damage for the next few seconds. The Blue Virus will freeze the opponent as if a Freezie had been thrown at them. The Yellow Virus will inflict a paralyzing effect causing the character's movements to be slowed and to periodically stop moving for a brief second as if they were paralyzed. Each of these status effects can last anywhere between 5-15 seconds depending on the amount of damage the character has. When the viruses punch and inflict their status effect they are also seen merging into the character's body. If a virus is not able to make contact and inflict a player with their status effect in 10 seconds time, a Megavitamin matching their color will fall from the top of the screen and make contact with them thus purifying the stage of the virus. If someone is attacked by multiple viruses they will be inflicted with each status effect.
