Balrog is one of The Doctor’s servants. He works with another of The Doctor’s servants, Misery, to accomplish The Doctor’s goals. Like Misery, Balrog is under the curse of the Demon Crown, forcing him to serve The Doctor. He is apparently based off of a bar of soap that bursts through walls.
Works:
Cave Story (PC)
Cave Story (WiiWare)

Assistance Description
|
When Balrog is summoned from the Assist Trophy, he doesn’t appear immediately. Rather, it’ll take about a second or two after the Assist Trophy’s use for him to appear. When he does appear, he falls from the top of the screen directly on top of where the Assist Trophy is used. If the original user of the Assist Trophy doesn’t move out of the way, he or she will be crushed by Balrog and take damage! In addition, fall-through platforms will not assist in stopping Balrog’s descent, as they’ll be smashed as he plummets downwards. As Balrog falls, he yells, “HUZZAH!”, his catchphrase throughout Cave Story. When he finally hits ground, he begins his attack pattern. He either will take a few steps forward (equivalent to one lying down Dedede’s length) or jump into the air and perform a Flutter Jump-esque technique. Touching Balrog deals a measly 3%, but what really hurts is being crushed by Balrog; either by him walking off a edge and falling on you or him successfully landing his jump attack. That deals about 25% with massive knockback. Also, Balrog may seem small from the picture, but in reality, he’s at least as wide as two Ganondorfs and as tall as Mario, making Balrog dangerous on small stages. On larger stages, his unintelligent AI and his inability to cover great distances make him next to useless.
