The Bumpty are a race of penguins that first appeared in Yoshi's Island. Inhabiting snowy areas, Bumpty are typically peaceful, but it would appear that if you touched them, you would gain damage, making them enemies at heart. In Paper Mario, an entire city is inhabited by ally Bumpty. Hemmingway, a famous writer in the Mushroom Kingdom, is a Bumpty as well.

Assistance Description
|
Five Bumpty appear on the stage in a group, and then split up, either flying up into and falling on opponents or bashing into them. Since Bumpty are somewhat heavy and penguins cannot fly very far, they usually fall about 3 seconds after lift-off, though it is rumored that they can fly for up to 5 if they're strong, and lucky, enough. Either way, they will deal 15% damage when they fall on opponents and 13% when they bash into them. Neither attack method deals much damage, but Bumpty that fall on opponents have a chance to force them into the ground for up to 4 seconds depending on their own damage percentage. After dishing out one or two attacks per Bumpty, the will regroup and disappear in a snowy wind.
