Poochy
Updated - February 17, 2010

Poochy is a cute little dog that appears in the Yoshi series of video games. Poochy has brown spots, and has no ears or nose, which does not seem to hinder his ability to smell. Poochy has a little red ball at the end of his tail, similarly to a poodle. He barks while he walks.

Poochy made an appearance in both Yoshi’s Story, and Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island to assist the Yoshi’s in their quest. In the latter game, Yoshi could ride Poochy over hazardous objects, while in the former game, Yoshi could not.

In Tetris Attack, Poochy appeared as the third ally that Yoshi would have to free in Story Mode. Poochy was allied with a Grinder, and replaced the earth fairy, Thiana, in the westernized version of Panel de Pon.

    Works:
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (Super Nintendo)
Tetris Attack (Super Nintendo)
Yoshi's Story (Nintendo 64)

General Information
Assistance Type: Indirect / Distraction Origin: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Chance of Appearance: Rare Date of Origin: August 15, 1995
Assistance Description
After being summoned from the Assist Trophy, Poochy will wander back and forth along the place he was summoned at, sniffing at the ground. After about five seconds of this, Poochy will appear very alert, as if he just smelt something worth following. Poochy then bounds in the direction he is facing three times, and digs in that spot. After he finishes digging, a Trophy, CD, or a random item will appear. Poochy then disappears, after barking twice (similarly to his bark from Tetris Attack).
