Rambi the Rhinoceros (or just simply Rambi) lives on Donkey Kong Island. He is a gray rhinoceros and he is one of DK's main companions. He is always in a crate with a picture of a rhinoceros. He has appeared in many adventures in Donkey Kong games. Rambi makes his debut appearance in the game Donkey Kong Country for the Super Nintendo, as the first Animal Buddy found by the Kongs. In this game, Rambi could aid Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong by defeating foes with his horn. Rambi returns in the Game Boy game Donkey Kong Land, playing the same role he does in Donkey Kong Country. Rambi reappears in Donkey Kong Country Returns. He appeared as an Animal Buddy, and uses his abilities from Donkey Kong Country and Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy Kong's Quest, but can also destroy blocks and spikes. Also, if the Kongs fall off him, he will destroy all the enemies in his way, unlike the past games. Diddy Kong can not use his jetpack very well when riding Rambi. Also, Rambi can't defeat enemies that are imbued in flames, such as the Flaming Tiki Buzzes and Flaming Tiki Zings.

|
Rambi instantly starts charging at the nearest foe and bucks it with his horn, dealing 20% damage with great knockback. He repeats this for a few seconds. At some point Rambi calms down and starts breathing heavily. Then he stamps his feet and the charging re-begins. Rambi disappears in 20 seconds.
